Our Birds
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.
Below we are showcasing our current breeding pens planned for the 2025 season. All pens are fertility checked regularly throughout the year, orders are allowed in 1/2 dozen or 1 dozen increments. In order to send out the freshest hatching eggs possible to produce the best hatch rate, there is a limit of one dozen per breed, some breeds have a limit of 1/2 dozen depending on flock size.
We are NPIP & AI Certified.
Ayam Cemani
Ayam Cemani were the first breeding program we started here on our farm. My husband was drawn to their unique appearance and I was excited to see him share an interest in raising poultry. Our original stock comes from country haven farms here in Ohio. Over the years we've added chicks from other breeders as we continue to chase the darker fibro. Our breeding birds have no color leakage in their feathers and no mulberry in their combs/waddles. It is important to note that no matter where you purchase Ayam Cemani from they are an extremely high cull breed. The best stock will produce lots of culls. Unless you just want to add fibro to your flock or have pretty black chickens to look at it is a difficult breed to work with.
Zombie
A fun cross between Ayam Cemani roosters and white leghorn hens. These are a first generation cross and will not be as dark as some backcross images you may find online. Breed these back to an Ayam Cemani for better fibro in the backcrossed generation. We prefer the F1 cross as chicks are able to be sexed by a week of age at the latest.
Ameraucana
These are our favorite birds on the farm. Beautiful contrast in colors, fluffy faces AND blue eggs? We think it's pretty hard to top that! The Ermine colored pattern is not a recognized color for the breed and it is still a work in progress. When you breed two ermines together you will produce ermine, black and dominant white. Dominant white is not the same as the typical white Ameraucana which are recessive whites. Recessive white Ameraucana cannot be used in an Ermine breeding program. Any black Ameraucana can be used. Eggs could hatch ermine pattern, solid black or dominant white. It can take a couple days to a week for ermine chicks to develop their spots so occasionally dominant white chicks will be mixed in with ermine.
55 Flowery Hens
We have a large request for pullet chicks so I started my search for an autosexing breed. I wanted something that had high egg production and wasn't super common. Not only do the 55s check those boxes the hens have a beautiful plumage that looks great in any backyard flock! They lay an XL white egg and chicks are easily sexed at hatch by color. Pullets will be a darker brown and boys will be a lighter dusty color.
Olivettes
These are F1 olive Eggers hatched from our pen of ermine Ameraucana that were removed from our ermine program. We cull pullets from that program for things like too many blue feathers, lack of muffs, or if I'm not happy with their overall pattern. These girls are still beautiful and lay large blue eggs. The roosters in this pen are black copper marans from Burberry homestead and hatched from extra dark eggs - 8/9s on the marans egg color card. Most chicks are ermine patterned with feathered feet and fluffy cheeks.
Salmon Faverolles
Our Salmon Faverolles started from a breeding trio that were picked up at the 2023 Ohio Nationals. We love their unique colors and sweet dispositions. Did I mention I'm a sucker for those beards and muffs!? This breed is known for their docile nature and are perfect for kids.
